I was terribly excited when Adam Roberts (The Amateur Gourmet) contacted me recently. He asked me if I'd act as a host for his virtual book tour when it comes to Los Angeles. I immediately started cleaning the house and getting ready for company.
What I should have done was pay closer attention.
As it turns out, Adam is just as amiable and easy-going as his writings. I offered my apologies to him for never completing the requested online interview. Instead I simply opted to enjoy the remainder of the pleasant day in the company of his book. Chapter One urges to "Start with Spaghetti" and that's just what we did. I followed the recipe for Basic Tomato Sauce (reprinted from The Babboo Cookbook) and in less than one hour we sat down to a delicious dinner.
I was terribly sad to wave goodbye, but my literary friend was soon off to his next stop on the tour. Oh and Adam, I need to get your mailing address because your book jetted off quickly and left behind the gift he bought for you:

Okay, whoops, I was very far off. I just commented on your 100th post because I clicked over there to see what your blog was about. In any case, I came here from Adam's blog - your review was very funny. I love stale and microwaved Peeps, and your style seems very laid-back, so I'll definitely keep reading. Nice to meet you!
This was very funny.
Not that I've seen many "virtual book tour" posts in my day, but this one definitely sets the standard. Very funny, AIF.
God, you are so cute and you are so funny. I really needed this today!
I figured he's stand me up too, so I went for mom instead.
Hi Kat--I'll take the belated congratulations anyway. I still have some Peeps in the cupboard and the creepy thing is that as long as the package isn't opened they don't petrify. I don't even want to know what does that!!!
David--Mrs. Roberts wants a photo with you because you've been on the Today show and have met Katie.
Everyone--thanks for the kind words!
Congrats on hitting 100 posts and sounds like you had fun playing host too!
Thanks Garrett--The one hundreth post was back in February but I'll blush and smile like it was today.
hahaha!
this was the best stop on the "virtual" book tour.
props to you!
OMG, you must have spent FOREVER on that! (Well, hopping from the valley to h'wood and all) Its FAB-Tastic!
(and funny too...)
Mwoah,
Rachael
I LOVE this! You are adorable!
That has got to be the best virtual book tour I've ever watched. =)
Hahahaha! I keep forgetting to come back to check out video posts (which I can't read from work. Which I only do on my lunch break, of course.)
This is freakin' great! Buckling the book for safety, the snippet from Airplane!, topless John Mayer... you are totes rock 'n' roll.
I no longer care about the food and just want more More MORE video book tours! Too funny (and BLESS YOU for the well-coiffed shot of John Mayer!!) Love you too much! XOXO Dan Calabro's child
